Nautilus HP
has been designed to provide a connection system for high-power applications,
using ODI’s patented NAUTILUS seal technology. The contact and seal
design is taken from the proven and successful Nautilus connector. The
connector uses elastomeric barriers on the receptacle assembly for sealing and
pressure compensation, providing a highly reliable mechanism in line with
ODI’s other products. The Nautilus HP is available in a number of
configurations to suit ROV, Diver or Stab-Plate installation.
The Nautilus HP is fully compliant with the high-power cable and accessories
specification IEC 60502-2, offering reliability in high voltage applications up
to 8.6 kVAC. A high-voltage DC variant of Nautilus HP is also available,
offering qualified performance up to 10 kVDC at 200 Amps. This ensures that
each circuit passes withstand voltage requirements of 20.0 kVAC and partial
discharge testing to <10 pC at 8.6 kVAC.
The design features which
makes the Nautilus connector so reliable include the dual independent oil
reservoirs providing two completely separate barriers to the ingress of sea
water. The patented design of electrical contact allows the pin to enter these
reservoirs and to transfer sealing via a shuttle pin and dual wiper seal
assembly.
